Your photos never leave your Mac. Here is exactly what the app and this website do send, to whom, and why.

Last updated: November 6, 2026

The short version

  • Your photos, videos, projects and exports stay on your Mac. We never upload them.
  • The app has no account system. Your licence key is the identifier.
  • To draw lines, the app sends locations — not photos — to map, parcel and elevation services.
  • We don't sell personal data. We don't use advertising trackers. The website counts visits with cookie-free Cloudflare Web Analytics.

This policy covers the Line by Air macOS app and the linebyair.com website. Line by Air is a trade name of Three Sixty Images LLC, 72-4897 Hoomalie Place, Kailua-Kona, HI 96740 ("we", "us").

What stays on your Mac

Line by Air works on your Mac. These never leave it unless you send them somewhere yourself:

  • your photos and videos, and the metadata inside them;
  • project files (.lba) and the images and videos you export;
  • flight paths from imported DJI flight logs (the app keeps a local summary of each log: takeoff point and flight track); and
  • log files. You can see them under Help → Show Log Files. They reach us only if you send a problem report or email them to support.

What the app sends, and to whom

To place lines on your photos, the app needs map, parcel and elevation data for the area you're working on. That means it sends locations to the services below. It does not send your photos.

ServiceWhat it receivesWhy
Esri (ArcGIS)The map area you're viewing, and any address you type into address searchSatellite map tiles and finding addresses

Like any internet service, each of these also receives your IP address and basic request details when the app connects. Each provider handles data under its own privacy policy.

What our server receives

Our server runs on Cloudflare Workers and is operated by us. It handles four things.

Parcel lookups

For areas covered by commercial data, the app sends the coordinates, area or parcel ID you search to our server, which forwards the lookup to ReportAll USA. ReportAll receives the lookup from our server, not linked to who you are.

For fair-use limits, we record credit counts per day and per US state and county (counts only, not addresses or coordinates), plus a one-way hash of your IP address that changes every day. We don't store raw IP addresses. Cloudflare, our hosting provider, processes IP addresses and request details to deliver and secure the service.

DJI flight-log unlocking

Newer DJI flight logs are encrypted. When you choose to import one, the app sends only the encrypted key blocks from that log to our server, which passes them to DJI's API. DJI returns the keys needed to decrypt the log. The flight path itself is decrypted and stays on your Mac.

Licensing

To activate and check your licence, the app sends:

  • your licence key;
  • a random device ID the app generates;
  • your Mac's computer name, so you can recognise your activations;
  • activation dates;
  • a random project ID when you export, so we can count properties; and
  • for the free trial, the trial start date and how many properties you've used.

Problem reports

Only when you choose Help → Report a Problem… and click Send, the app uploads to our server:

  • your description and, if you give it, your email address;
  • the app's log files, which include names and folders of files you opened, map locations you worked with, and details of any errors or crash;
  • the app version, your operating system and type of processor, your licence key (if you have one) and the random device ID;
  • a screenshot of the Line by Air window, unless you untick it; and
  • only if you tick it, the open project with its photos and the flight log it used.

Photos may show a client's property; include them only if you're allowed to share them. We use reports only to investigate and fix the problem and to reply to you. They're stored privately with Cloudflare and deleted after 90 days.

Update check

Once a day, the app checks for a newer version. This request includes the app's version number, whether this is the first check on this computer, and whether it's a Mac or Windows computer. We count these checks per day to know how many people open the app and how many new installs there are. The counts don't include any identifier for you or your computer.

Payments

Purchases are handled by Paddle.com, our merchant of record. Paddle collects and processes your payment details, billing name, email and address, and tax information. We never see your full card details. Paddle's handling of your data is covered by its own privacy policy.

Paddle passes us the order details we need to issue and support your licence: your email address, the plan you bought and your country.

We use your email to send your licence key, help with your order, and send important notices about your plan or these policies. We send product news only if you sign up for it, and every such email has an unsubscribe link.

This website

  • Fonts. The site loads fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser sends your IP address to Google when you visit.
  • Videos. Tutorial videos use YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode and load only when you click play. Once you do, YouTube's privacy policy applies.
  • Product news sign-up. If you sign up, we store your email address to send product news. Every email has an unsubscribe link, or you can ask us to remove you.
  • Visit counts. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see how many people visit, which pages they view, which site referred them, and their country and type of device. It sets no cookies, doesn't track you across other sites, and doesn't build a profile of you. The app itself doesn't use it.
  • No advertising trackers. We don't use advertising trackers or sell visit data.

Who we share data with

We don't sell personal data, and we don't share it for advertising.

We share data only with the services described above (Esri, USGS, state and county GIS services, ReportAll USA, DJI, Cloudflare and Paddle), to run Line by Air. We may also disclose data if the law requires it, to protect our rights or users' safety, or as part of a sale or reorganization of our business.

How long we keep data

  • Licence records (key, activations, order details): for the life of the licence, plus 7 years for tax and business records.
  • IP hashes for fair-use limits change daily. Limit counters are kept for about 30 days.
  • Usage counts (by US state and county, and daily app opens and installs) are aggregate and don't identify you.
  • Product news emails: until you unsubscribe.
  • Problem reports sent from the app (files and details): 90 days, then deleted automatically.
  • Support emails and logs you send us: as long as needed to help you, then up to 2 years.

Your rights

You can ask us to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you. Email [email protected]. We may need to confirm the request is yours — usually by checking it comes from the email on your order or includes your licence key.

Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under laws such as the GDPR or the California Consumer Privacy Act, such as objecting to certain processing, or complaining to a data-protection authority. We'll respond to requests as those laws require. We may keep some records where the law requires it, such as tax records.

For payment data, contact Paddle, which controls that data.

Security

Connections between the app and the services above use encrypted HTTPS. We keep what we store to a minimum, and we don't hold raw IP addresses or card details. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect what we do hold.

Our server and some providers are in the United States. If you use Line by Air from elsewhere, your data may be processed there.

Children

Line by Air is not directed at children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has sent us personal data, contact us and we'll delete it.

Changes to this policy

We'll update this policy when what we collect changes. We'll post the new version here with a new date, and tell customers by email or in the app if a change is significant.
